A Solution To Your Resolutions

With resolution season upon us I thought I would write a little about possible goals that add to your life instead of worrying about taking things away. I feel that it is a lot easier to add in better choices so you don’t feel deprived. Start thinking about what you would like more of in the coming the year. What brings you joy? What helps you relieve stress?

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

– Start a nightly routine to help you sleep better. Turning off all electronics at least 30 minutes before bed time helps cue your body that it is time to unwind. Help yourself unwind from the day by reading a book you enjoy, a warm bath, or journaling. Try out a couple different options to see which ones work best for you.

– Make a meal plan for the week. Sit down with your family and your favorite cookbooks to pick out a couple meals a week to make at home. Start by picking meals with ingredients that you like, once you are consistently making meals at home start trying a recipe with new ingredients each week.

– Find movement that is enjoyable to you! Don’t force yourself to workout in a way that makes you dread what you’re doing. If you enjoy walking, do that, if you enjoy lifting weights, do that, if hiking with friends or family is enjoyable do that! Whatever you enjoy doing is what you will be most consistent with.

– Spend time with people who lift you up, not knock you down. It has been said that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Make time for the people who truly want to see you happy, healthy, and thriving. Those are the people that will help make you a better person and in return you will help make them better too!

These are just a few suggestions as to what you can focus on for the New Year ahead of you! Hopefully by reading this it has sparked a few more ideas for you to try!
